Hawaiian Days Collection™ of Vintage Prints (Standard Quality)

The Hawaiian nostalgia images in this portfolio are based on the standard matting and framing proportions of 16"x20" and are printed on standard quality papers. If you desire archival quality Giclée on watercolor paper or canvas printing, plus a wider assortment of finishing styles, see our DeLuxe portfolio. Make sure to select "No Cropping" during checkout, or allow for minimal cropping to fit your chosen format or if you're going to have your image matted. Keep in mind that the originals these impressions were taken from are antiques, made and printed with methods and machinery vastly inferior by today's standards, but that adds to their nostalgic charm. Today, we employ the latest in technology and materials to manufacture your print. Enjoy your trip through the days of Hawaii before jet-travel!

028: 'Hawaiian Fisherman (or 'Hawaiian Net Fisher')' by Gill, created as a diptych during the early 1940's. The art of the never fully identified artist Gill reflects a time period of Hawaiiana during which several artists began employing a method of air brushed stenciling. Through layering complex textures were achieved. Unfortunately, as WWII enfolded, artist materials became of lesser quality and consequently few originals have been preserved. With his stylized renditions of Hawaiian figures this native of San Francisco charms today's viewer as much as those during his heydays!
029: 'Surfing Waikiki,' from a Bartlett Woodblock print. ca 1930's, showing Waikiki surfers in action on their classic longboards in the first half of the last century against the backdrop of a Pacific sunset. Hawaiian Days is the premier publisher of vintage Hawaiian surfing prints and surf posters, such as 'Surfing Waikiki.'
030: 'Woman with Fish' by Gill. Print based on airbrush paining from the early Forties. In spite of its unassuming title (it's also known as 'Wahine With Basket of Fish) this painting has become one of the most famous and popular images produced by Hawaiiana artist Gill.
